If you are a sports enthusiast and a card player and you like ESPN exceptionally well, then you may be intereested in the ESPN Copag cards. This is a typical two deck setup of Copag cards and they are the high quality 100% plastic decks. The setup includes a blue deck and a red deck and sports a fairly typical cross hatch design with two mirrored ESPN logos on each card. The standard sturdy black case is included with this setup, so your cards will be transported and stored well.
It seems that the 1546 design of Copag plastic cards in the poker size and regualr index version is by far the most popular setup of Copag cards. No wonder though, since the poker boom is largely responsible for the great rise in popularity of plastic playing cards in general. Most people you talk to simply don’t use paper cards for their poker games any longer. Additionally, the folks that host or run regular weekly games have also switched to the plastic cards because they realize that the longevity makes them cheaper than paper decks in the long run. This fact also applies to the guys that are putting on free poker tournaments in bars and restaurants.
For it’s 100th anniversary Copag created a special 2 deck set of playing cards to commemorate the occassion. The special set of plastic cards had an artistic flair that led to the pips being classified as special index. Truly a unique set of cards, the product also included a special metal tin storage box. Not sure if these Copag cards were a big hit or not, with a price point a couple of dollars higher than the normal setup. However stocks have been depleted and no more production seems to be scheduled on these unique anniversary cards. Therefore the Centennial decks have been discontinued.
11.5 gram Poker Chips
Oct 27
If you have purchased some ABS poker chips in the past few years, it is very likely that these chips are 11.5 gram chips. This weight seems to be the most common weight of poker chip in the home market. Nearly every version of poker chips in this weight class has a type of metal washer engineered into the center of each chip. These metals discs are for weight, but have nice side benefits. A couple of added benefits are durability and strength. The added strength allows these poker chips to endure the hot stamping customization process.
Final Table at the WSOP
Oct 21
The final table is set for the World Series of Poker. Once again, just like last year, it has been delayed until early November in order to build excitement and to give the fans a chance to learn about the players. Play is scheduled to resume on November 7, 2009 and the nine final table players will be battling for their share of over 27 million dollars. First place this year will pay $8.5 million and ninth place will pay $1.25 million.
The most notable player at the final table is Phil Ivey. Anyone who has followed poker, for even a short while, should know of Phil. It should be interesting to see how it all plays out. Although Phil Ivey may be the most notable and a possible favorite, we all know that just about anything can happen at a poker table.
